Heroes Always Weekly Never Late Update 2009-04-03

As many of you will know, we cleared Naxxramas Heroic this week.

Raid progression

Well the big news of the week is of course that we downed the right hand man of the Lich King, the venrible Kel'Thuzad. We went on Monday night having cleared everything upto him and after a few wipes we dropped him.
From everyone of the officers we'd like to congratulate each and every person who took part. While I suspect Thaddius will still give us a few problems yet, I think pretty every other boss can be one shotted if we focus and bring our A game.

With Naxxramas down, and the achievement in the bag we're going to be off to finish last of the content, the Spell Weaver himself, Malygos. The raid is already in the calender for this Sunday and we'd love if you could sign up to book your place.

Finally when the content is cleared we'll be looking to setup a few "achievement" teams to push people through the variously achievements large and small that are out there.

News in the world

Well, it's all about the 3.1 patch these days, isn't it?

If you haven't seen the changes for your class I suggest you head over to www.wowinsider.com and have a look. With Ulduar hitting soon, predicted date is 13th April, the game is going to be changing, and for many it'll prove to be a tough adjustment.

Specifically healers will be struggling for mana quite a bit more and MP5 is apparently going to become much more useful. Similarly life is going to get tougher for the DPS classes as threat is going to start to ramp up very, very quickly. Most of us have been spoiled by the high threat that our tanking teams have been putting out since the expansion but going forward people are going to have to be checking Omen much more regularly.

When Ulduar does hit, rest assured we'll be on the first guilds in there and we'll do our best to get people ready and trained up on the fights. In the meantime, please head over to Wowwiki and read up on the boss battles.

The Fun Part

Continuing the theme of famous people that WOW, which legendary hard man do you think spends his spare time in Azeroth?
Well obviously as the picture suggests it Vin Diesel. When interviewed by Johnny Ross on the BBC last week he talked about WOW, raiding and life etc (wow stuff starts 5 minutes in).

Heroes Somewhat Regular Update 2009-03-27

Yeah, some real updates for once! Just out of raid, and for those who weren't there, hear this!.

Raid progression

Thaddius FINALLY down in Naxx 25. We spanked Sapphiron as well while we were at it, just for good measure.

Big Kel is still alive though. We had a jump at him to get a feel for the fight, but didn't press it. It was late, and we are going back.

Next raid for Naxx25 is Monday at 8 - and that means a full clear and on to Malygos. I told ya'll, we will be done with this content come ulduar!

News in the world

Who cares? We are clearing naxx after so many times of messing up, that's world news enough for ya!>/p>

Alright, want something? Lets see what we can find...

...Ah yeah, some WoW tournament is going on. Deathknights and Holy Palas is still kicking everyone's ass. Not much news in that, but alteast something, eh?

The Fun Part

Going with tonights theme, here's Thaddius with pink manties for your... enjoyment?

Heroes Weekly Update 2009-03-13

About that DKP eh... Still having some problems getting it perfect, so we keep messing about with it. New changes to the bidding system. Read on, and also remember to check out the Rules page.

Raid progression

Not much new on this front. Still struggling with Thaddius. Spider and Plague quarters are truly on farm, and if we do Military as easy as we did last week, that will be considered farm as well.

Something new on the 10man raiding front is the Late Night Team that runs late fridays and weekends. If you are a parent that can't raid early evenings, or for some other reason prefer to be up late nights, don't hesitate to sign up!

News in the world

Well, it's all about the 3.1 patch these days, isn't it? Not much new to say, as always, if you want to see whats new on the PTR go check out MMO-Champion

DKP Changes

Last night we noticed that if people have lots of DKP, they can just outbid everyone fast, and then only pay 25dkp. Now, that doesn't seem fair, and we decided to once again overhaul the bidding system.

After some Addon Modding by in house coder Azthal (that would be moi) we can now use Silent Bidding again. That means that from now on, bids will be done in whispers.

If you bid lower then highest bidder you will get a message telling you so.
If you bid the highest current amount you will be told that you are highest bidder
If you are highest bidder, and someone bids over you, you will be told that you are no longer the highest bidder

You will never be told what the highest bid is, only if you are highest bidder or not. This to encourage people to bid as much as they want to spend on the item.

This will all also be in the Rules ofcourse.

The Fun Part

As an old timer hunter I love hunter pets. Comming in 3.1 is a new Spirit Best called Gondria! It will be a rare elite just like the current spirit beast, and will truly be a nice catch for any hunter. Video above by the always funny BigRedKitty.

Heroes Weekly Update 2009-03/04

Yes, yes, I know it’s been almost a month since the last “weekly” update! Sorry to everyone who was looking out for the latest news.

Raid progression

Bosses continue to die in Heroic Naxxramas, and at the time of writing only Thaddius and his electrical charges stand between our raid team and the Inner Sanctum. Indeed by the time you next read this column, we hope to be able to announce that Kel’Thuzad himself has fallen. At this point Heroic Malygos will be all that is left of the current content, showing that Heroes is making more than sufficient progress to keep up with upcoming new raids.

At the same time, 10-man runs continue on a regular basis, and last week saw raids organised by Lawbreaker, Delain and even Davarnus, as well as runs with the usual raid leaders. Yes, believe it or not, your trusty Guild-Master has finally stepped into a raid instance!

On a more serious note, signups for Heroic raids have been patchy at best, and the last couple of runs have had to pull in large number of PUG raiders from other guilds. Please continue to sign up, and encourage your friends in the guild to join you, so that we can continue to take an “all guild” raid team where possible. The purples in Naxx25 are a step above the drops from Naxx10, so it’s well worth signing up to come along, especially as you don’t need any better gear for Heroic than you do for Normal!

Lastly, if you do sign up for a raid and then later find you can’t come, please please PLEASE amend your signup on the website so we know not to expect you. Too much time has been wasted lately waiting for people to log on after they signed up, who then never show.

News in the world

News continues to trickle in about Patch 3.1 after it appeared on the Public Test Realm last weekend. Some of the Ulduar bosses have been released for testing and are proving to be an interesting (and at times very difficult) bunch of enemies.

Val’anyr Many healers rejoiced when it was announced that a new Legendary Weapon will be available in Ulduar. Details are short at the moment, but all indications suggest that Val’anyr, Gavel of Ancient Kings will be a healer-only mace.

Also annouced was the Argent Tournament, an unexpected addition which promises “mounted combat”, a host of new dailies, new titles/mounts/pets, and the possibility to become a Champion of your home city.

The Fun Part

With nothing new appearing recently for this part, I thought I’d revive a couple of old favourites that newer players may not be familiar with, and maybe even old hands have never checked out.

Firstly, if you’ve never visited http://www.darklegacycomics.com/ before, you should do so! It’s a WoW comic strip and often very very funny. I liked today’s strip regarding the Oracles’ Mysterious Egg!

Secondly, I know this is in the news history but it still amuses me over a year after I first saw it, and wanted to put it back on the homepage

See you all next week for another update!

Heroes Weekly Update 2009-02-08

Another week, another update.

Two guild firsts, a new officer and we’re into the 25 man raids in style! As always it’s been a busy week in Azeroth for the Heroes of the Alliance.

Raid progression

The guild declared war on the Black Dragon flight this week. Not content with farming Malygos’s Blue Dragon Flight for purples, we stuck to the task of hammering Neltharion’s brood and we managed guild first’s in both the normal and heroic versions of the Obsidium Sanctum.

Onwards and upward into the 25 man content we also pushed into Heroic Naxxramas. We wanted to wait a little bit to make sure people were geared for it and I for one think it paid off. We zerged both the Plague and Spider Quarters and got plenty of nice loot for our most experienced and some of our beginners alike. We’re going back on Monday evening, and to be honest I think we’ve got the team to clear it, it’s just a matter of getting everyone online at the same time.

We also rolled out a new DKP system, courtesy of Azthal, which will help ensure our most loyal players get the chance to get the best loot in Heroic raids. DKP stands for Dragon Killer Points, and are basically a reward for constantly showing up for 25 man raids. The more you have, the more you can bid. To understand the rules and see how much DKP you have, check on the DKP tab on the website.

News in the world

Wow, it’s been a hell of a week in Warcraft. The big news is that the patch notes are in for 3.1.0. As always you can get over to WowInsider to check out what it means for your class, but if you need a summary I’ll try and list the biggest changes.
Uldar – the newest raid content in Storm Peaks
Duel Spec – we’ll be able to switch
Mana Regen – it’s getting nerfed and MP5 is coming back in a big way

To see all the changes click on the link http://www.wowinsider.com/guide-to-patch-3-1/

The Fun Part

Usually picking the fun part is the hardest aspect of writing Heroes Weekly, but not so this week. For his sins, his considerable sins, we’re decided to punish Lawbreaker by making him an Officer of the guild.

And ladies & gentlemen here is the only know picture of our newest leader …… I wouldn’t mess with him.

Legend

Well that’s about it for this week of Heroes Weekly, look forward to giving you an update in a weeks time, and remember be good!
